Lejla Dauti for Crime + Investigation: “She’s Unbreakable”

In a recent short film by Crime + Investigation, Trime co-founder Lejla Dauti shares her deeply personal story in a piece titled:

“She Grew Up in a Home Filled With Conflict – But She’s Unbreakable”

In this raw and reflective video, Lejla opens up about growing up in the UK as the child of Kosovan refugees, navigating the emotional residue of war, cultural silence, and the hidden conflicts that shaped her home.

She speaks about:

  • The unspoken trauma passed down through generations

  • The normalisation of emotional and psychological pain within the household

  • The internal conflict of being both grateful to survive, and aware of what was lost in the process

  • Why speaking out, especially as an Albanian woman, is radical, powerful, and often isolating

Lejla’s honesty is not only disarming, it’s necessary. In sharing what many women are forced to carry in silence, she makes space for truth, healing, and accountability.

This video captures the very essence of why Trime exists, to challenge silence, honour complexity, and make visible the stories often buried beneath culture and fear.

Thank you to Crime + Investigation for holding space for this conversation, and to Lejla for continuing to use her voice as both a shield and a torch, protecting others while lighting the way forward.
